Xi'an Banpo Museum

Located in the eastern suburbs of Xi’an, Banpo Museum opened to the public in 1958, covering the excavated Banpo Site of the Neolithic Age. It protects complete relics of semi-subterranean houses, storage pits, pottery kilns and defensive moats, as well as a large number of painted pottery, stone and bone tools from the Yangshao Culture. Divided into a ruin exhibition hall and cultural relic exhibition halls, it intuitively shows the production, daily life and social structure of ancient matriarchal clans, being an important site to learn about China’s primitive agricultural civilization.
