Drum Tower

Built in 1380 during the Hongwu reign of the Ming Dynasty, the Drum Tower of Xi'an is a key national cultural relic with a history of over 600 years. It once served as the ancient city’s timekeeping center, where drums were beaten at sunset to mark the end of daily curfew. The grand triple-eaved wooden tower houses a giant main drum and 24 decorative drums carved with the 24 solar terms, alongside antique paintings and porcelain displays. Standing adjacent to the bustling Muslim Quarter, it offers panoramic views of Xi’an old town and combines splendid traditional Chinese wooden architecture with profound ancient city history.
