Travel Tips

• Self-driving, chartered car or joining a west line group tour are the mainstream transportation methods, about 2.5 hours drive from downtown
• Reserve tickets in real name via the official WeChat public account, and swipe ID card for entry
• The 70-yuan round-trip sightseeing bus is mandatory, private vehicles cannot enter the core scenic zone, and walking the long desert loop is forbidden
• Wear full sun protection, windproof jackets and non-slip shoes
• Carry large bottles of drinking water, as the Gobi is extremely dry and scorching at noon
• Never climb the weathered Yardang rock bodies to avoid collapse risks
• Do not stray from designated trails, for mobile phone signals are weak in the wilderness and it is easy to get lost
• Drones are prohibited in the entire geological protection area
