Fengdu Ghost City

Located in Fengdu County, Chongqing beside the Yangtze River, Mingshan is the origin of China’s well-known ghost city culture with a history of over two thousand years. Dense ancient temples stand along the mountain trails, built based on traditional folk legends of the netherworld, including Naihe Bridge, Ghost Gate, Yama Palace and other classic themed buildings. A large number of cliff stone carvings, ancient statues and moral story reliefs are preserved here, blending Confucian, Buddhist and Taoist culture. It perfectly combines mysterious underworld folklore, ancient temple architecture and riverside natural scenery, being a unique cultural landmark along the Yangtze Three Gorges tourism route.
