About
Located in Guandu District of Kunming, Guandu Ancient Town is an important ancient Dian cultural birthplace and former Dianchi Lake ferry terminal with over a thousand years of history. Within the small town, there are well-preserved ancient architectures spanning Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, including Miaozhan Temple, Legal Temple, Earth Lord Temple and the iconic Miaozhan Temple Diamond Pagoda, China’s earliest surviving sandstone diamond throne pagoda, a national key cultural relic protection unit. The whole pedestrian block is open to visitors for free 24 hours a day. Tourists can stroll old alleys, watch intangible cultural heritage handcraft demonstrations, taste authentic Yunnan snacks, and enjoy lantern-lit night scenery. Only climbing the Diamond Pagoda, indoor opera performances and craft experience activities charge separate fees.
