About
Situated in Wuhou District of Chengdu, Wuhou Shrine is a well-preserved ancient architectural complex integrating temple, garden and imperial mausoleum with a history of over 1,800 years. It was built to commemorate Zhuge Liang, the loyal and wise prime minister of the Shu Han state, and encloses the Huiling Mausoleum of Emperor Liu Bei. Within the complex lie ancient stone steles carved with historic verses, lush old cypress trees, classic Sichuan-style courtyards and cultural displays of Three Kingdoms relics, carrying profound Three Kingdoms history and traditional Chinese literati culture.
Travel Tips
- Opening hours: 08:30 - 18:30 daily; buy tickets online in advance and present valid ID for entry.
- Take Metro Line 3 to Wuhou Shrine Station for direct access; Jinli Ancient Street is just beside the exit for a combined sightseeing route.
- Hire an official tour guide or rent an audio guide to learn vivid stories of the Three Kingdoms.
- Do not touch ancient stone tablets, cultural relics and wooden carvings to prevent damage.
- Allocate 2 to 3 hours to tour the whole complex, including the main shrine halls and the imperial tomb area.
- Wear comfortable walking shoes for strolling through winding ancient courtyards.
