Formed by granite geological movements, the mountain ranges boast steep peaks rising above misty valleys. The iconic Guest-Greeting Pine stands at Yuping Tower, representing the symbol of Huangshan. Core attractions include Bright Summit, Shixin Peak, West Sea Grand Canyon, Flying Stone, Lotus Peak and Monkey Watching the Sea. The mountain adopts a rotation policy for Lotus Peak and Tiandu Peak for ecological protection. Visitors can choose hiking trails or take cableways to reach high viewpoints. It integrates magnificent alpine scenery, unique geological landscapes and traditional Chinese ink-painting aesthetics, and is a top destination for mountain hiking, sunrise & sunset watching and landscape photography in China.
Travel Tips
- Complete real-name reservation via the official WeChat mini-program “Huangshan Tourism Platform” in advance
- Private vehicles cannot drive into the mountain; take mandatory shuttle buses to cable-way stations
- Wear non-slip professional hiking shoes; stone steps are steep and slippery after rainfall
- Mountain temperature is 5–8°C lower than at the foot; bring a light windproof jacket even in summer
- Carry lightweight snacks and a thermos; food and drinking water are priced higher on mountain tops
- Raincoats are recommended; umbrellas are forbidden on trails due to lightning risks and strong winds
- Do not step off marked trails; wild mountain paths are dangerous and closed to tourists
- Drones are prohibited within the entire scenic zone without official approval
