Hulishan Cannon Fort

Known as the maritime barrier guarding Xiamen Bay, the whole scenic area spans 55,400 square meters, divided into three core sections: artillery battle platform, garrison barracks compound and hilltop coastal viewing zone. It ingeniously combines Western European military fort architectural layout with traditional Chinese granite masonry craftsmanship, forming a unique semi-underground bunker and rampart structure. The undisputed star attraction is the 280mm German Krupp coastal cannon weighing 87 tons, certified by Guinness World Records as the largest and most intact original 19th-century seacoast artillery piece on the globe. Inside the fort lie ancient ammunition depots, interconnected secret tunnels, military cultural exhibition halls and live historical artillery drill performances. Perched on the coastline, it commands panoramic views of Xiamen sea waters and nearby islets. It is within easy reach of Xiamen University Siming Campus, Baicheng Beach and Yanwu Bridge Coastal Trail, serving as a landmark historical stop along Xiamen’s iconic Huandao South Road coastal sightseeing route.
