Kaiyuan Temple (Quanzhou)

Founded in the Tang Dynasty, it is Fujian’s largest ancient Buddhist temple. The complex features grand wooden halls and two huge Song‑Dynasty granite stone pagodas. No general admission fee. Visitors arrive by public bus, ancient‑town shuttle or taxi. Core highlights include Zhenguo Pagoda, Renshou Pagoda (East & West Towers), Mahavira Hall with 24 celestial musician carvings, Ganlu Ordination Altar, the thousand‑year‑old mulberry tree and Master Hongyi Memorial Hall. It combines exquisite ancient architecture, religious art and Maritime‑Silk‑Road multi‑cultural relics. Travellers come for heritage sightseeing, ancient‑building photography and religious cultural experience.
