Travel Tips

• No dedicated public transportation to the glacier
• Most visitors arrive by self-driving, chartered car or group tour bus
• Prepare a valid border pass if you continue onward to Shigatse and Everest areas after visiting
• The pass has strong ultraviolet radiation and piercing cold wind all year round
• Put on high-power sunscreen, windproof scarf, warm coat, gloves and sunglasses
• The ground around the viewing platform is loose gravel and slippery ice fragments
• Walk slowly and watch your step to prevent slips and falls
• Do not climb onto the unstable ice cliffs or walk into the restricted glacier hinterland
• Flash photography is allowed for outdoor landscapes
• Drones can be launched in open flat areas away from the ice wall
• Do not litter on the grassland and mountain slopes to protect the fragile alpine ecological environment
• Refuse overpriced local horse riding and unnecessary guide services to cut down extra costs
