About
At 3282m altitude opposite Ganden Sumtseling Monastery, Lamu Yangcuo Lake means "Holy Mother Soul Lake" in Tibetan, the soul lake of Goddess Palden Lhamo. A wooden boardwalk encircles the clear seasonal lake, home to black-necked cranes and wild waterfowl. Perfect mirror shots of the monastery complex appear on calm mornings. No separate ticket; entry is included in the Sumtseling Monastery combined package.
Travel Tips
- Visitors over 70 enjoy free entrance ticket, only pay 30 CNY shuttle bus fare with valid ID.
- At 3282m, walk slowly to avoid altitude sickness. Bring warm jackets for large temperature gaps.
- Strong UV rays. Wear sunscreen, sunglasses, hats and non-slip walking shoes.
- Respect Tibetan customs: no loud noise, no feeding wild birds randomly.
- No lakeside shops. Bring water and snacks; carry small cash.
