About
The current building complex was reconstructed and expanded according to murals in Mogao Cave 172, ranking as one of the largest Tang-style Buddhist temples in Northwest China.
Nested against desert sand dunes, it features grand Tang-dynasty architectural layout with red walls and golden eaves.
Core highlights include the central axis halls (Heavenly King Hall, Mahavira Hall, Great Brightness Hall), the 108-prayer-wheel corridor, the cool Guansha Cave, and antique plaque collections with precious calligraphy works. It is a quiet free attraction perfectly arranged before or after visiting Mingsha Mountain.
