Far less crowded than the famous Panxi S-curve, it keeps a quiet and pastoral atmosphere integrated with original Bai villages, wetland ecosystems and lakeside wooden boardwalks.
Core highlights include the century-old Longkan Ancient Ferry archway, seasonal water metasequoia forest stretching into the lake, misty dawn lake surface, flocks of winter red-billed gulls, and the winding Erhai Ecological Corridor. It serves as the perfect starting point for a relaxed west bank cycling route connecting Panxi Curve and Xizhou Ancient Town.
Travel Tips
- Take a taxi from Dali Ancient City directly to the pier for around 20 RMB, which takes roughly 15 minutes
- The pier, ecological corridor, viewing platforms and ancient ferry area are completely free of charge
- Beware of illegal scalpers selling so-called exclusive paid viewing spots, all photo locations are public and free
- Wear comfortable non-slip walking shoes for wooden planks and wet stone steps by the lake
- The plateau ultraviolet radiation is extremely strong, so prepare high-power sunscreen, sunglasses and a sun hat
- Bring a thin windproof jacket as the lakeside temperature drops sharply in early morning and evening
- Do not trample wetland vegetation, wade into deep lake water or disturb wild birds
- Drones are restricted in the Erhai ecological protection zone for environmental and safety management
- Use unsalted bread to feed seagulls in winter to avoid harming the birds
