Longtan Valley Scenic Area

The valley was shaped by 1.2 billion years of geological sedimentation and 2.6 million years of water erosion, featuring rare red rock barrier valley landforms, deep U-shaped gorges, collapsed cliffs and winding clear mountain streams. The constant temperature inside the canyon stays around 22°C all year round, making it a top natural summer resort in the Central Plains region. Different from Luoyang’s numerous historical and cultural relics, this scenic spot is dominated by primitive geological wonders and outdoor leisure experiences. Its core highlights include the famous optical illusion wonder “Water Flowing Uphill”, Silver Chain Waterfall, Five Dragon Ponds, Sky Crack Viewing Platform, collapsed boulder clusters and high-altitude alpine Tianchi Lake. Visitors can enjoy shallow stream wading, cliff drifting, high-altitude zip lines and glass plank road sightseeing. It is ideal for geological science research, lightweight hiking, parent-child water activities and heat avoidance in summer. It can be combined with Daimeishan Mountain and Xiaolangdi Reservoir to form a one-day ecological sightseeing route around Luoyang.
