Nanjing Tulou (Nanjing Hakka Earthen Buildings)

Known as the magical mountain residential architecture, it is divided into three core zones: Tianluokeng Tulou Cluster, Yunshuiyao Ancient Town and Hekeng Tulou Village, boasting more than 3,000 well-preserved rammed-earth buildings integrating ancient Chinese geomancy concepts and Hakka clan living customs. The iconic landmark is Tianluokeng “Four Dishes and One Soup” Tulou Group, composed of one square and four round/oval earthen buildings with a stunning aerial view. Other highlights include the 700-year-old Yuchang Building with tilted wooden beams that never collapse, Hegui Building erected on marshland, the exquisitely decorated Huaiyuan Building, ancient stone paths, century-old banyan trees and waterwheel landscapes in Yunshuiyao, which was the filming location of the classic movie Yunshuiyao.
