About
Potatso National Park sits 22 kilometers southeast of Shangri-La Old Town, with an average altitude of 3,500 meters to 4,159 meters. Covering over 1,300 square kilometers, it consists of core scenic zones including Shudu Lake, alpine meadows and Bita Lake, featuring crystal glacial lakes, ancient coniferous forests, vast grasslands and rare plateau wild animals such as black-necked cranes. The park’s Tibetan name "Potatso" means "the ferry lake saving all living beings", carrying profound local Tibetan religious culture. A mandatory eco-shuttle bus runs through the vast park; optional paid services include Shudu Lake cruise boats. All visitors need to purchase entry tickets plus shuttle bus tickets for access.
