About
Dating back over 600 years, the compound evolved from Ming‑Dynasty noble mansions, then served as the Viceroy’s Office of Liangjiang and imperial travelling palace in the Qing Dynasty. It was later expanded into the Heavenly King’s Palace during the Taiping Rebellion. On January 1st, 1912, Sun Yat‑sen took his oath of office as the Provisional President of the Republic of China here, marking a milestone in Chinese republican history. Blending traditional Chinese yamen layout, exquisite Jiangnan gardens and Western‑style modern architecture, the site is divided into central, western and eastern zones.
