Qinghai Lake

Located at an altitude of 3,196 meters in Qinghai Lake Basin, Qinghai Lake is the biggest inland salt lake in China and a national natural reserve. Encircled by rolling green alpine grasslands, towering snow-capped peaks and golden rapeseed fields in summer, the lake boasts sapphire-blue lake water, flocks of migratory birds and wild yaks on the shore. Key scenic spots include Erlangjian, Bird Island and Sand Island, each offering distinct lake views, bird watching and desert-lake landscapes. As a landmark of Qinghai, it draws tourists worldwide for its magnificent plateau lake scenery and unique Tibetan pastoral culture.
