About
Shudu Lake sits at 3705m inside Potatso National Park, an internationally significant plateau wetland. Its Tibetan name means stone cheese. A 3.3km wooden boardwalk lines the lakeshore, with wild squirrels, grazing yaks and mirror snow mountain views on calm days. Entry requires the park’s combined ticket plus mandatory shuttle bus; lake cruise boats are an optional paid extra.
Travel Tips
- Visitors over 70 enjoy free entry ticket, only pay 70 CNY shuttle bus fare with valid ID.
- At 3705m, walk slowly to avoid altitude sickness. Bring oxygen and thick jackets for big temperature swings.
- Strong plateau UV rays. Wear sunscreen, sunglasses, hats and non-slip walking shoes.
- Do not step off boardwalks, trample wetlands or litter; carry all trash away.
- No shops by the lake. Bring water and snacks; cash recommended for weak mobile signals.
