Songpan Ancient Town

Sitting at an altitude of 2850 m, it serves as a major transit stop for Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong. The total length of its ancient brick city wall reaches 6.2 km, featuring grand ancient gate towers. Streets and alleys inside the town are open to the public free of charge; visitors pay separately to climb onto the city wall. Core highlights include the thick Ming‑Dynasty city wall, Zhenqiang North Gate, Princess Wencheng and Songtsen Gampo statue, Ancient Song Bridge, bluestone alleys and multi‑ethnic‑style buildings blending Tibetan, Qiang, Han and Hui cultures. It combines ancient military architecture, plateau folk customs and riverside town scenery. Travellers come for historical sightseeing, cultural experience, ancient‑town and night‑scene photography, as well as altitude adaptation before heading to higher‑elevation scenic spots.
