Taiping Heavenly Kingdom History Museum (Zhan Garden)

It is China’s sole special‑theme museum dedicated to Taiping Heavenly Kingdom history, housing the country’s richest collection of relevant cultural relics and documents. Originally built as the private villa garden for Xu Da, a meritorious general of the Ming Dynasty, the site once served as the residence of Taiping Heavenly Kingdom’s Eastern King Yang Xiuqing during the mid‑19th century uprising. The eastern zone hosts history exhibition halls, displaying precious artifacts including the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom jade seal, royal golden crown, dragon robes, original editions of institutional decrees, weapons and mural fragments, presenting the full rise‑and‑fall chronicle of the peasant rebellion movement. The western garden preserves authentic Ming‑Qing Jiangnan landscape architecture, featuring time‑honored rockeries, ancient Taihu stones such as Immortal Peak, tranquil ponds, winding corridors, Jingmiao Hall and Tiger‑Character Stele. Blending solemn historical displays with exquisite classical‑garden aesthetics, it is a remarkable cultural‑tourism site for history research, educational trips and ancient‑garden sightseeing. Night‑time illumination casts soft light over pavilions and water surfaces, delivering fantastic nocturnal garden views.
