About
Wenhai sits at an altitude of about 3100 meters on the northern slope of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, a hidden seasonal alpine lake formed by glacial erosion. The lake fills with clear meltwater during rainy summer months to form a mirror reflecting snow peaks, while it turns into wide wild flower grasslands from autumn to spring. Surrounded by scattered herds of cattle, sheep and horses, the adjacent Wenhai Village retains original Naxi stone houses and traditional rural lifestyles. There is no official entrance fee for the lake and meadows; paid optional services include horse riding, local farm meals and Dongba cultural handcraft experiences.
