West Island (Sanya Xidao)

The surrounding waters are a national coral reef nature reserve, renowned as a prime diving destination with clear turquoise seawater and rich underwater coral and fish groups. The island retains a complete century-old Minnan-style fishing village, featuring distinctive coral stone old houses, hand-painted graffiti walls, a boat-shaped ocean bookstore and the Memorial Hall of Xidao Women Militia that records local coastal defense history. The core scenic highlight is Niuniu Ridge (King Cattle Ridge), a connected headland with cliff plank roads, lighthouse and reef landscapes, offering the best sunset overlook over Sanya Bay and distant Nanshan Guanyin statue.
