About
Also named Wodicuo in Tibetan, Wudi Lake sits at 3,800m altitude in Langdu Village, Geza Township of Shangri-La, tucked deep within Dilong Snow Mountain. It consists of two connected highland lakes whose water shifts between Tiffany blue and emerald green under different sunlight. Moss-draped ancient fir forests, wild flower meadows, scattered yaks and a lone iconic lakeside withered tree compose quiet, undisturbed pastoral scenery. There is no official entrance ticket, only a 10 CNY per person environmental cleaning fee for lake area maintenance. Wooden loop boardwalks allow easy lakeside hiking, and wild camping is permitted with an extra small venue charge.
Travel Tips
- Visitors aged 70 and above are exempted from the sanitation cleaning fee by presenting official identity documents.
- At 3,800m, walk slowly to avoid altitude sickness; bring oxygen if needed. Temperatures swing sharply, bring warm jackets year-round.
- Powerful plateau ultraviolet radiation all day long, prepare high-SPF sunscreen, UV sunglasses and wide-brim sun hats.
- Do not trample alpine wild flower meadows, pick forest plants, litter by the lake or tear down prayer flags; all waste must be taken away to protect fragile highland wetland ecology.
- Do not fly drones over the lake and meadow to avoid disturbing livestock and wild birds.
