Built in the early Ming Dynasty on the foundation of the imperial wall of the Tang Dynasty, Xi’an City Wall stretches around the ancient city with a total length of over 13.7 kilometers. Complete with ramparts, city gates, watchtowers, moats and drawbridges, it once served as a core military defense system. Visitors can walk or rent bicycles to cycle along the wide wall top, enjoying panoramic views of traditional ancient buildings and modern urban scenery side by side. It stands as a landmark carrier of Xi’an’s thousand-year imperial history and a classic symbol of the ancient capital.
