About
Put into operation in 1987, Yangtze River Cableway is the first large passenger cableway crossing the Yangtze River in China, stretching 1,166 meters to connect Yuzhong District Xinhua Road Station and Nan’an District Shangxin Street Station. Once an essential daily transport for local residents before numerous river-crossing bridges were built, it has evolved into a landmark tourist attraction integrating urban memory, unique transportation experience and sightseeing. The 4-minute gliding journey provides an unparalleled overhead perspective overlooking layered mountain city buildings, flowing Yangtze water, grand river bridges and the illuminated Hongya Cave skyline. It has appeared in multiple classic films and fully embodies Chongqing’s distinctive three-dimensional urban charm.
