About
Located in Qixing District on the eastern outskirts of Guilin, Yaoshan Mountain stands at 909.3 meters, the tallest peak within the city proper. The scenic area has free entrance, featuring dense forest, blooming azaleas in spring and fiery red maple leaves in autumn. Visitors can ride a 1416-meter cable car to the summit’s 360° viewing platform to overlook Li River, urban skyline and layered karst peaks, or take the mountain dry slide downhill. Ancient Yao Temple relics and Ming Jingjiang Mausoleums at the foot add profound cultural heritage to the natural landscape.
Travel Tips
- The mountain top is windy and cool, remember to bring a lightweight jacket even on sunny days.
- The cable car stops selling tickets at 16:00, arrange your travel time reasonably.
- Wear comfortable non-slip walking shoes if you plan to hike up or down the mountain.
- Protect the mountain forest, do not pick wild plants or discard garbage randomly.
- Elderly visitors with heart disease or high blood pressure are not recommended to climb the mountain.
