About
First constructed in 605 AD in the Sui Dynasty, it was originally named Zetianmen and renamed Yingtianmen in the Tang Dynasty, having been in use for 523 years across the Sui, Tang, Five Dynasties and Northern Song dynasties before being destroyed in wars. It was the grand venue for imperial coronations, major national ceremonies, diplomatic receptions for foreign envoys and grand banquets, equivalent in status to the Meridian Gate in Beijing.
Unlike standalone exhibition halls, it perfectly integrates archaeological ruins, Tang-style replica architecture, digital immersive exhibitions and stunning night light performances.
Core highlights include the underground glass viewing corridor displaying original gate foundations and one-door-three-passage relics, the elevated tower viewing platform overlooking the Luoyang central axis, the immersive digital hall Wanxiang Divine Palace, and the landmark 3D projection light show projected on the ancient city wall every weekend. It is a top Hanfu and ancient-style photography landmark in Luoyang, and can be connected on foot with Mingtang, Tiantang and Jiuzhou Pool to form a complete Sui-Tang imperial palace cultural sightseeing loop.
