About
Originally built in 1694 as the mansion of Prince Yinzhen (Emperor Yongzheng), it was transformed into an imperial lamasery in 1744 during the Qianlong reign. The complex blends Han, Manchu, Tibetan and Mongolian architectural styles. The landmark Pavilion of Ten Thousand Happinesses houses a giant sandalwood Maitreya Buddha statue. It remains an active sacred worship site, attracting pilgrims and visitors to admire ancient buildings, precious Buddhist relics and experience profound lama culture.
