Constructed during the Northern Wei Dynasty across about 50 years, the site extends one kilometre from east to west, with 254 grottoes and more than 59,000 delicate Buddhist stone statues. It combines Chinese ancient architecture, stone‑carving skills and religious culture, marking the peak of Northern Wei Buddhist art. Travellers come for grotto art appreciation, religious‑cultural exploration, historical relic sightseeing and artistic photography.
