About
Located in Nijia Ying Town, Linze County of Zhangye City, Zhangye Colorful Danxia Scenic Area is a UNESCO-listed colorful hill landform national geopark, covering around 50 square kilometers at an altitude of about 1,820 meters. Formed from Cretaceous red rock layers through long-term water and wind erosion, the rolling hills display vivid gradients of red, orange, yellow and cream. Four core viewing platforms offer panoramic views of stacked colored ridges, earning it the nickname “Earth’s Palette”. Sightseeing shuttle buses connect scattered viewpoints, and optional hot air balloon and helicopter rides provide aerial photography perspectives.
